Unique Stone

Terms and Conditions

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us using our contact details or by emailing sales@unique-stone.co.uk.

Terms and Conditions

  1. About Us

These terms apply to all sales made by Unique Stone (“we”, “us” or “our”), [legal entity name], a company registered in England and Wales under company number [number], with its registered office at [registered address].

You can contact us using the Unique Projects contact details: [phone number, email address and postal address], or by emailing sales@unique-stone.co.uk.

Unique Stone is a supplier of natural stone only. We do not carry out installation. Our sister company, Unique Projects, offers design and installation as a separate service.

  1. These Terms

By using this website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them before ordering.

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force will be the version published on our website when you place your order.

  1. Ordering

Your order is an offer to buy from us. A contract is formed only when we confirm acceptance of your order [by email or on dispatch].

We may decline an order, for example where a product is unavailable or there has been a pricing error.

If we decline an order for which payment has already been taken, we will refund it in full.

  1. Products and Natural Variation

Our products are natural stone. Colour, tone, texture, veining, size and thickness vary naturally from piece to piece and from batch to batch.

Product photographs and samples are indicative and show a typical rather than exact appearance. This natural variation is a characteristic of the material and is not a defect.

You are responsible for ensuring the stone is suitable for its intended purpose. We recommend ordering a sample of any range before you buy.

  1. Samples

Samples show the general character of a range but cannot show the full extent of natural variation.

[State sample charges and whether they are credited against an order.]

  1. Wastage

Because of the nature of cutting, handling and laying natural stone, we recommend ordering an additional 10% to cover wastage, cuts and natural variation.

We do not replace or credit material classed as wastage below 5% of the order quantity.

  1. Prices and Payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and are [exclusive of VAT, which is added at the prevailing rate at checkout].

Delivery is charged separately, as set out on our Delivery page.

Payment is taken [in full at the time of order]. No goods are dispatched until payment has been received.

We reserve the right to correct obvious pricing errors before dispatch.

  1. Delivery, Risk and Ownership

Delivery arrangements, coverage and charges are set out on our Delivery page.

Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Ownership passes to you once we have received payment in full.

Delivery dates are estimates. While we work hard to meet them, we are not liable for reasonable delays outside our control.

  1. Access and Offload

You are responsible for ensuring safe, clear access for the delivery vehicle and for telling us about any access constraints in advance.

Offload is to a firm, level point at or near the kerbside unless otherwise agreed.

If a delivery fails or is refused because of access issues, or because no one is available to receive it, a redelivery charge may apply.

  1. Checking Goods, Shortages and Damage

Please check your order on delivery.

Note any shortage, damage or incorrect items on the delivery paperwork and tell us within [three working days] of delivery, with photographs where relevant.

Please do not lay stone that is damaged, incorrect or not as expected. Laying it is treated as acceptance, and we cannot then accept a claim on those grounds.

  1. Returns and Cancellations

Your returns and cancellation rights are set out in full on our Returns and Refunds page.

In summary, consumers may cancel within 14 days of delivery, subject to the exceptions for bespoke, cut-to-order and pre-sealed items.

Faulty, damaged or incorrect goods may be returned within 30 days and will be collected at our cost.

  1. Trade Customers

Trade accounts are subject to separately agreed terms, including pricing and payment arrangements.

Trade customers returning goods for reasons other than a fault are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

[Add or reference your trade account terms.]

  1. Faulty Goods

If goods are faulty, please contact us with details and photographs.

We will offer a repair, replacement or refund in line with your legal rights.

  1. Our Liability

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, our total liability in connection with an order will not exceed the value of that order.

We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for the cost of laying, removing or relaying stone.

We strongly recommend inspecting all stone before it is laid.

  1. Events Outside Our Control

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where this is caused by events outside our reasonable control.

This includes supply shortages, extreme weather, industrial action and transport disruption.

  1. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to other websites, provided for convenience only.

We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content.

You are responsible for evaluating anything you access through them.

  1. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, images and layout, is owned by or licensed to Unique Stone and is protected by intellectual property rights.

You may view and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use.

You may not otherwise copy, reproduce or reuse it without our written permission.

  1. Data Protection

We handle your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy.

  1. Statutory Information

This website is owned and operated by [legal entity name], [registered address], company number [number], VAT registration number [number], email sales@unique-stone.co.uk.

  1. General

Any delay by us in enforcing a term of these terms does not waive our rights under it.

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the rest remains in force.

We may transfer our rights and obligations to another company.

You may not transfer yours without our written consent.

  1. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Any disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.

Delivery

Delivery Information

Natural stone is heavy and can be easy to chip around the edges, so we pack it carefully and deliver it with the attention it deserves.

Here is how our delivery service works.

Delivery Charges

Delivery is free on all orders over £750 plus VAT to UK mainland addresses.

Orders under £750 plus VAT are charged at a flat rate of £65 plus VAT.

Deliveries to outlying areas, including the Scottish Highlands and Borders, the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, Northern Ireland and other remote postcodes, may be subject to a postcode-based surcharge. Any additional charge will be shown at checkout.

Lead Times

Most in-stock orders are delivered within one to three working days of cleared payment.

Larger or made-to-order items may take longer. We will always confirm the expected delivery date with you.

How Your Order Arrives

Orders are delivered on pallets by our courier partners.

Delivery is made to the kerbside and offloaded to a firm, level and accessible point as close to the property as the driver can safely reach.

Delivery beyond the kerbside cannot be guaranteed and will depend on the access available at the property.

Where possible, the courier will contact you to arrange a delivery slot.

Access

Please make sure the delivery address has clear access for a large delivery vehicle and that someone is available to receive and check the order.

Please tell us in advance about any access restrictions, including:

  • Narrow lanes
  • Vehicle weight limits
  • Gravel surfaces
  • Sloping ground
  • Restricted turning space
  • Low bridges or overhanging trees
  • Any other access constraints

Some surfaces are not suitable for the use of a pallet truck.

If the delivery point is unsuitable and the courier is unable to complete the delivery, an additional redelivery charge may apply.

Risk and Ownership

Risk in the goods passes to you upon delivery.

Ownership of the goods passes to you once we have received payment in full.

Checking Your Order

Please check your order when it arrives.

Any shortage or visible damage should be noted on the delivery paperwork and reported to us within two days of delivery. Please include photographs where relevant.

Any claim should be made in writing within 7 days of delivery, or within 28 days of dispatch in the case of non-delivery.

Please do not lay stone that is damaged, incorrect or not as expected. Laying the stone will be treated as acceptance.

Natural Variation

Natural stone varies in colour, texture and size within normal tolerances. This variation is a natural characteristic of the material and is not considered a fault.

We recommend ordering the full quantity required for a project in one transaction, as this gives the best chance of receiving stone from the same batch.

We also recommend blending pieces from several packs as the stone is laid to create a balanced and consistent overall finish.

Split Deliveries

Please order everything required for a project in a single transaction so it can be delivered together.

If you choose to split an order into separate deliveries, additional delivery charges may apply.

If we need to split a delivery, for example because an item is temporarily out of stock, you will not be charged for the additional delivery.

If There Is an Issue With Your Product

If you believe there is an issue with your stone, please contact us before taking any further action.

If there has been a mistake with your order, or the stone arrives damaged, faulty, not fit for purpose or not as described, you have 30 days from the date of delivery to arrange a return.

Where the issue is with the product, we will arrange collection at our own cost.

If you are a consumer and placed your order online or by phone, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of delivery.

To qualify for a refund or exchange, the stone must be unused, in the same condition in which it was received and in its original packaging.

If you cancel within the 14-day period, you are responsible for returning the stone to us.

We can arrange collection on your behalf, but a collection charge will apply.

We will issue your refund within 14 days of receiving the returned goods.

Help Centre

Answers to the questions we are asked most often. If you cannot find what you need, contact the team on [Unique Projects contact details: phone, email and postal address] and we will be glad to help.

Choosing natural stone

Which natural stone is best for a patio?

Sandstone is the most popular all round choice for its warmth and wide colour range. Limestone suits contemporary schemes, granite is best for heavy use and high specification, and slate adds dramatic darker tones. The right choice depends on the look you want and how the area will be used.

How do I choose the right stone for my project?

Think about the use and traffic, the finish you prefer, and how the stone will sit against your house and planting. Order samples and view them in place, dry and wet. We are always happy to advise.

Laying and preparation

Do you supply or lay the stone?

We are supply only. We give installation advice with every order, and our sister company Unique Projects can install the stone as a separate service.

Should I check the stone before laying?

Yes. Always inspect your delivery and lay out a dry run before fixing. If anything looks wrong, contact us first, because laying stone is treated as accepting it.

Sealing and maintenance

Does natural stone need sealing?

Sealing is recommended for porous stones such as sandstone, limestone and travertine, as it helps resist staining and weathering. Granite and slate are denser and need less protection. We will advise per range.

How do I keep my stone looking its best?

A regular sweep and an occasional wash with clean water keeps most natural stone in good order. Reseal periodically in line with the product guidance.

Ordering and wastage

How much stone do I need?

Measure the area in square metres and add around 10 per cent for cuts and wastage. Each product

page lists coverage, and we are happy to check your quantities before you order.

Do I have to buy a full crate?

We offer split and full pallets.

Samples

Can I get samples before I order?

Yes. We send physical samples so you can see the colour and texture in your own light before committing to a full order.

Delivery

How much is delivery and how long does it take?

Delivery is free on orders over £750 plus VAT to UK mainland addresses, and £65 plus VAT below that.

Most in stock orders arrive within 1 to 3 working days. See our Delivery page for full details.

Ethics and sourcing

Is your stone ethically sourced?

We work with quarry partners we have vetted, and we favour suppliers who extract and work stone responsibly.
